We, Zeynep and Ann, are childhood best friends who met while studying at an international school in Tokyo. We were 14 and spent our last summer before moving away (to Turkey and the US respectively) wandering the streets of Tokyo (our parents were really chill?), eating dumplings, talking about the future and bonding over a shared love of drawing.
Fast forward 17 years later, we realized over a recent Skype call that we had become near-professional quitters: we both have a habit of starting projects and activities with a religious fervor only to trail off and quit when things get hard.
Through an inspiring back-and-forth discussion, we decided to hold each other accountable via what we call the Prime Number project. Starting April 1, we will aim to finish a personal creative project in a prime number amount of days: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31. (We discussed jumping into a 30- or 100- day challenge, but decided prime numbers would give us a chance to ramp up to the world of not-quitting.)
This blog is our accountability to each other and the world.
Because, after years of giving up, Zany and Ann have finally quit quitting!
